Harvest House accepts new and
gently used clothing from newborn to size 14 as well as layette items,
blankets, shoes, socks, age appropriate toys & books, and furnishings
(cribs, car seats, strollers etc)
We do not accept or provide
diapers or formula.

Harvest House is the largest provider of free baby and
children's items in the area, helping families referred to them
by over 220 agencies, including hospitals,
crisis centers, clinics, doctors, churches, WIC, Prenatal
services, refugee services, child protection and social service
agencies.
Each year the
Baby and Children's Ministry helps more than 4,500 children.
Harvest
House gives away anything to do with a baby or child such as
cribs, car seats, swings, strollers, clothing, bibs, blankets
and toys. Every item is free and most items are donated to
Harvest House by youth groups, private individuals,
corporations, etc. Several Eagle Scouts have held baby drives to
earn their prestigious award. One lovely 70 year old claiming to
have enough powder and perfume told her family she wanted baby
items for her birthday with Harvest House being the lucky
recipient of her thoughtfulness and generosity. Similarly a
seven year old, stating she already had enough toys, also asked
her friends to bring baby items to her birthday party. In
January 1999 a new addition solely dedicated to the baby and
children’s ministry was opened. When space becomes available
the Baby and Children's Ministry will move to the
Harvest House Ministry Center, 175 Jefferson Avenue where it will be four times
larger and have a waiting room and children's play area.
How
You Can Help
Harvest House is in need of volunteers to keep the baby and
children’s ministry building open. Volunteers may choose to work
one half day a month or one half day each week. Substitute
volunteers are also needed to fill in during vacations and
illness. Harvest House accepts donations of new and gently used
clothing and baby and children’s items. Children’s clothing up
to size 14 is accepted. The greatest needs are cribs, car seats
and newborn clothing including sleepers and Onesies.
Because the children who rely on the services we provide already
have one strike against them, we do not accept clothing that is
torn, stained or out of style.
Financial donations to the baby and children’s ministry are
used to purchase crib mattresses and when necessary, items such
as umbrella strollers, newborn clothing and socks and underwear.
